I consider this movie for being one of the best action-pack movie ever. I really love this movie even though I have never played the game before. It has a really cool and exciting plot.
The plot follows Dastan, a young boy, showing courage in a market place baffel. He was soon adopted by the king as his third son. The two other brothers are Tus and Garsiv.
15 years later, the Persians were about to attack the sacred city of Alamut. They believed that this city is selling weapons to enemies of Persia. And since Garsiv is the head of the Persian army, he is suppose to lead the attack on sunrise. However, Dastan was so eager to do it that he and his small crew went on the attack first before sunrise.
Meanwhile, because of this invasion, the mythical Dagger of Time was to be moved to a safer location. However, the person who was suppose to bring it away from the war was killed by Dastan during a fight.
The dagger gives its owner the ability to go back in time for a short period and defy the future and its user is the only person that knows it's been used.
Tamina, the princess and a guardian of the Dagger of Time, was captured and was to marry Tus which would make the city of Alamut a part of Persian Empire.
The Persians celebrated their victory. But trouble came when Dastan gave a gown to King Sharaman. The gown was poisonous as it burnt King Sharaman to death. Dastan had to run as everyone thinks he is the suspect of killing the king to become king. Princess Tamina ran way with Dastan because he had the Dagger of time with him. Together they embark on their journey - The prince wants to prove his innocence while Tamina wants to safeguard the Dagger of Time.
On the first night, Tamina attempts to kill the prince and recover the dagger, but Dastan accidentally activates the dagger and learns about its ability to rewind time, and in doing so, he prevents Tamina from attacking. Dastan believed that Tus knew about the dagger and framed him for killing his father in attempt to seize the throne and dagger to become the most powerful ruler of Persia.
During their journey, the duo then meets a group of outcast tax-defaulters, including ostrich racing-organizer Sheik Amar and his friend Seso who is good at throwing knifes. And because Dastan was tricked by Tamina, Dastan offered her as slaves to the outcasts. Soon after, Sheik Amar found out that Dastan was the one who murdered the king and tried to capture him to get rewarded from Tus. However, Dastan and Tamina managed to escape.
The duo returned to Persia for the king's funeral. There, Dastan tried to convince his Uncle Nizam that he was not the one who murdered the king. Dastan even told his Uncle about the Dagger of Time and wanted to show it but Tamina confiscated it. Dastan then realised that his Uncle's hands were burn which indicates that he was the one who set up the murder of the King. Furthermore, Nizam set up an ambush for Dastan but he manged to escape from it again.
Dastan catches up with Tamina and told her that his Uncle Nizam was behind all this. It's revealed that the attack on Alamut was not because of the weapons but because of the dagger and a massive Sandglass which is hidden beneath it. This way, Nizam would go back in time before he had saved the King Sharaman from being attacked by a lion and undo the act, hence ensure that he becomes the King of Persia, even before the Emperor's son's were born. The Sandglass is the source of the Sands of Time, but by unleashing them, they transform into a massive sandstorm, which could potentially destroy the entire world. The pair then put aside their differences and agree to work together to protect the dagger.
Meanwhile, back in Persia, Nizam tried to convince the other two brothers that Dastan is trying to overthrow them and he must be killed to avoid rebellion. Nizam then hired the Hassassins.
Dastan and Tamina are then captured again by Sheik Seso and their group. Sheik was very mad at those two for causing so much chaos and damages previously. But that night, when everyone is asleep, the Hassassin leader attacks the group in an oasis by controlling a number of snakes. Many of the group die, but Dastan uses the dagger to rewind time, and foreseeing the attack, he manages to kill all the snakes single-handedly, saving Seso in the process. The Hassassin leader then leave.
The next day, the pair, now accompanied by Sheik and Seso, travel to the secret sanctuary in the mountains where Tamina could destroy the dagger. In order to do so, she must sacrifice her life. However, they came upon Garsiv's men. Dastan managed to persuade his brother that he is innocent but was killed by the Hassassin. Just as Tamina was about to destroy the dagger, she was knocked unconscious and Dastan had to fight the Hassassin with whips. THE BATTLE WAS REALLY INTENSE, THE SOUND OF THE WHIP SLASHING MAKES YOU JUMP TO THE EDGE OF YOUR SITS. The dagger was taken by the Hassassin leader through a trained snake and the whip Hassassin was killed by Garsiv who died later on.
The four of them, Dastan, Tamina, Sheik and Seso returned to Alamut to reveal the truth about Nazim and to get back the dagger. Seso was the one who went to the sacred temple where the dagger was kept gaurded by the Hassassin who killed Garsiv earlier on. Seso and the Hassassin fought which ended up both dead but Seso succeeded into throwing the dagger out of the window to Dastan before dying. Sheik then distracted the guards while Dastan showed the true power of the Dagger to Tus by killing himself and Tus rewinding time. Afterwards, Tus was killed by Nazim, and Dastan was captured by another Hassassin. The dagger once again is in Nazim's hands but Dastan and Tamina managed to defeat that Hassassin.
Nizam goes to the Sandglass chamber beneath Alamut, as Dastan and Tamina race to stop him. Shortly after, they encoutered the leader of the Hassassins. However, after a close fight, Dastan defeated him. They then manage to reach Nizam as he pierces the Sandglass with the Dagger.
During their final confrontation, Tamina slipped and fell into the bottomless pit and told Dastan that it was his destiny to carry on and stop Nizam. The two of them fought each other. Dastan then uses the Dagger's button to open the Sands of Time container and use its power against Nizam. The Sandglass break and a sandstorm was shown destroying Alamut. Dastan is then able to use the Dagger and turn back the time, just as the Sandglass breaks. The timeline returns to the point when Dastan holds the Dagger for the first time, during the siege of Alamut.
At the end, Dastan uses his knowledge to reveal Nizam's evil plan to his brothers. Nizam then attacked Dastan but Tus kill Nizam in time. The prince then met Tamina and Tus suggest that Tamina should become Dastan's wife. The Prince returns the Dagger of Time to her. Tamina expressed her surprise to Dastan's sudden change of behaviour and hinting that he may have discovered something to which he replies that they are in control of their own destiny.
